They’re from folks on every side of the political arena, from every walk of life, from diverse backgrounds, and with widely varying interests. While it’s always nice to hear nice things about yourself, what makes me smile the most are the specific projects mentioned, the good work, and the progress made for Fort Collins and beyond. When you’re making your decision to elect your next City Councilperson, it’s worth considering the experience of neighbors who live and work in your own community.

I have known Nick for over a decade. He was one of the first supporters of my coworking company and he is simply unwavering in his dedication and support of small businesses in Fort Collins.

Every time there is a project or program that lifts up and improves freelancers or entrepreneurs, Nick is behind it. It’s been a delight to watch him not just think outside the box but haul in completely new platforms for our modern-day business challenges.

My business is in District 1 and I want Nick on the Fort Collins City Council representing my interests.

ANGEL KWIATKOWSKI

In my experience working with him, he’s a clever problem solver and a fierce advocate for those that need support. He understands this community and the challenges we all face, and will work creatively to solve problems, bringing diverse stakeholders together.

Aquiles Quiroga Endorses Nick Armstrong for District 1

I met Nick a few years back when he approached me to be a panelist for Startup Week. He didn’t only recognize the need for inclusion of the minorities and local Latino business, he acted on it.

In my experience, other candidates knock on your door asking for your vote, and most are aware of the gap for inclusion and the lack of involvement in the local Latino organizations and business. Nick is one of the very few who seeks to fill it.

Nick is a formidable leader, always approachable, resourceful, with a clear vision for a better community for all.

AQUILES QUIROGA
OWNER, QUIROGA INTERPRETING SERVICES LLC

What will motivate you to vote for Nick Armstrong as a new member of our City Council in District 1 is his ability to be an active listener to our city’s ever-growing diverse demands. Nick takes a practical boots-on-the-ground approach when leading. He will always be one phone call, email, or coffee away from listening and understanding what you have to say with a holistic lens.

I’ve been shoulder-to-shoulder with Nick when he is actively leading. He consistently displays a well-rounded knowledge of the various issues and keeps a balanced mind when making decisions. He possesses intuitive wisdom to lead with creative problem-solving.  Nick’s current involvement in our city makes him ready on day one to get things done. I’ve witnessed his high level of motivation to make change, but it’s always coupled with the world view that change is a long-term process. He will be patient for us to see things all the way through.

You can count on Nick to remain engaged, energized, and committed to us. We need his inspirational leadership for City Council and that’s why your vote for him on April 6th will be a good investment in our future.  I trust Nick Armstrong to lead us in the right direction.

Paula Watson-Lakamp Endorses Nick Armstrong for District 1

I met Nick Armstrong over ten years ago as a participant in one of his business marketing classes. I was not only impressed by the quality of the class, but that he donated any payments for the class to the Food Bank for Larimer County. Right then, I knew I was going to keep track of this young entrepreneur and watch his community spirit grow. Nick has the power to gather and lead diverse groups into working together for a common cause. Whether it is gathering community to learn about local nonprofits concerned with mental health issues or raising money for literacy causes by running in a T-Rex suit, Nick transcends the stuffy introverted image of a computer geek into a problem-solving ninja.

In working alongside Nick during various fund-raising events, I have found him to be honest with the integrity to always answer a question truthfully without any hidden agenda. He is adaptable and always interested in knowing both sides of an issue before making any decisions. Anyone who takes the time to get to know him will see a true community builder, looking out for the local citizenry to make their lives better.

Now is the time to hand the torch over to the generation that is now inheriting the issues that our fast-growing city and county are dealing with. Nick Armstrong is the accomplished, well-informed, common-sense candidate for District 1 that deserves your vote.

Paula Watson-Lakamp
FORMER MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR, POUDRE RIVER PUBLIC LIBRARY DISTRICT

Nick has been doing great work in Fort Collins for much longer than I’ve known him. I met Nick while working as the community outreach coordinator at Barnes & Noble here in town. We partnered many times while he was running Fort Collins Comic Con (he still does this) and we were able to support our local Poudre River Library District and Realities For Children while doing so.

Nick also heads up StartUp Week for Fort Collins and is passionate about entrepreneurs and creativepreneurs—he is both of these things as he owns his own marketing company. He is VERY passionate about helping people make the most of their ideas and also helping these ideas benefit our community.

I have never had a conversation with Nick without leaving completely energized and thinking about how to make a shared project bigger and better. I ALWAYS look forward to chatting with him because I know that conversation will turn into good work. I feel very fortunate to have Nick as a trusted and supportive colleague. I hope you will vote for Nick on April 6th if you live in District 1. He already has and will continue to improve and energize our community.

District 1 still needs a council person who will come see and discuss our issues. North East Fort Collins is exploding with construction and attendant problems related to transportation, bikeways, trains, and traffic. We need a voice and leadership who will speak up. It is time for change in District 1.

Nick is a successful small business person who has a demonstrated voice and leadership ability. He lives in and passes through North East Fort Collins every day and sees the challenges. Nick has my vote for District 1.

GLENN HAAS
2019 DISTRICT 1 COUNCIL CANDIDATE AND CO-OWNER, KRAZY KARL'S PIZZA

Nick Armstrong quietly and with expertise helps business owners and entrepreneurs succeed with grace and without need fanfare or credit.  He sure did with this one! In 2010 off an idea from a  Facebook message I began my business, MenuTrinfo®, LLC.  I had no idea what I was doing or where I was heading and reached out to the meetup community.

At the center of a large number of the groups I attended, and education opportunities was Nick.

He was sharing his knowledge freely, openly, and with only the desire to help to newbies like me.  I learned from him, bugged him, hired him, and I am sure drove him crazy at times, and today, 11+ years later, I call him a friend, and the bonus, we still have a successful business as a result of him.  Believing in people, letting go of the small stuff, and helping with the big, is a specialty of Nick’s!  I am grateful for his guidance, brilliance, and unending support no matter what or when I sought his expertise.  Fort Collins City Council District 1 could have no better advocate and leader championing for them in my opinion.

It was clear before the lockdown began, and it’s crystal clear now. We need a new voice on our City Council who can kickstart a more vigorous entrepreneurial approach to solving the problems that are holding our city back.

I believe that voice is Nick Armstrong, candidate for District 1.

Just listen to how he lays it all out in his campaign launch video – so clear and disciplined and straight to the point.

I worked on a Startup Week volunteer committee with Nick a few years ago. He was an exceptionally good listener and the guy we turned to for the digital know-how that became the foundation of the entire event. Fast forward a couple of years and he was our lead organizer. Thanks to him, it was the best Startup Week yet.

It was when I heard Nick speak at the Fort Collins Connexion broadband launch that I first pictured him as the entrepreneurial leader we need on our City Council. He single-handedly lifted the entire event with his knowledge, wit, and easy-going manner. He was the only one in the lineup who seemed to be speaking to me rather than some silent special interest lurking in the crowd.

I know I’m not alone in feeling that way – I’ve heard people urge him to run many times since.

As an entrepreneur, as a neighborhood advocate, as a father, as a principled and empathetic public figure, he’s the complete package.

Vote for Nick on April 6!

KIT BAKER
FUNDRAISING MANAGER, COLORADO INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY ORGANIZATION

Nick Armstrong will bring great energy and enthusiasm to the position of Fort Collins City Council District 1. I have encouraged Nick to serve the community in an elected position for many years. His broad knowledge of local, state and national issues is to be commended. When I was in the position to select volunteer consultants for the Loveland SBDC/LCBD, I could easily determine if the potential volunteer had the right motives to work with the center clients. Nick definitely has a heart for the community and the right motives.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Nick Armstrong at Fort Collins Startup Week. Nick is a thoughtful and encouraging leader who takes time to listen and empower his community. He’s a vocal advocate for others and he shows he cares in both words and actions. He’d make a great Starfleet Captain and, until then, I’m excited to vote for Nick for City Council!

Nick Armstrong embodies what it means to be a true civic leader. An innovative, creative problem-solver, he is truly a servant leader, thinking of and caring for others before himself. He has freely given of his time, talent, and treasure to benefit others.

I have seen him work enthusiastically, and tirelessly, spend countless hours working with students of all ages across this state helping them develop their technological and leadership skills. Through his business ventures, he has provided numerous opportunities for students to showcase their talent and has even served as a mentor to them as they explored careers in technology.
